My Connection to the Work
I show up in this work as a co-conspirator: someone who shares the political commitments of the leaders I partner with, who's accountable to the same liberation project they are, and who brings my own ongoing, iterative practice into every session. I do this work because I worked in the organizations that stretched me and my colleagues thin, and I know something different is not only possible; it’s necessary.
As a Black, queer, non-binary femme who has experienced housing insecurity, relied on public transportation, and been low-income, I came to nonprofit work with a deep commitment to shifting the conditions for me, my family, and my community. That's still true, but now I focus on the conditions inside of our workplaces.
I spent most of my first decade of work inside nonprofits: as a community builder, a program manager, a leader who had to learn how to maneuver inside cultures that couldn't support their staff with the same rigor and investment they gave the communities they served. I bring a power-aware lens to leadership coaching, 360° evaluations, conflict transformation, and team development, grounded in lineages of knowledge and practice that center collective liberation and sustainability.
I work with leaders at justice-focused nonprofits, foundations, co-ops, and social enterprises: organizations trying to build something real while surviving the conditions that make that hard.
My Approach
Values in
Practice
We work together to make sure that your values show up in what you do on a rough Wednesday afternoon. Our work together will help you identify where your stated values and your lived practices align, where they don’t, and chart the path to close that distance.
Conditions Clarity
The organizational environment you operate in has specific power dynamics, culture, and history. We'll strengthen your understanding of the conditions you're in, what's yours to address within that and what's not, and how you want to relate to it all, including what’s needed for you to continue there or if transitioning out is necessary.
Sustainable Path Forward
Trying to figure it all out on your on is hard. We build a path that includes practices and tools rooted in your values, clarity on your support system inside and outside of work, and the capacity to know what you can and cannot show up for.
Liberation Labs
We spend so much time and energy at the organizations we came to or built because we wanted something different for our communities and the world. We’re often working in conditions where our work is under-resourced but incredibly necessary for marginalized communities. Social enterprises, co-ops, and nonprofits sit at an intersection of working towards a more liberated world and providing income for the leaders and staff doing that work.
What we do and how we show up in these spaces can help shift the expectations, conditions, and practices we move through the world with. These work environments that prioritize social impact are well-poised to be laboratories where we explore how we connect and build with each other in ways that serve us individually and collectively beyond the work or the organization.
